Club's international veteran makes it back-to-back wins

SUZI Pegg’s penalty flick helped Wallingford’s Ladies 1s make it back-to-back wins in Trysports Three Counties League Premier 1.

She scored the only goal of the game in a 1-0 victory at home to Oxford 2nd. The 2nd XI were involved in a thrilling 4-4 draw at South Berkshire 2nd. Heather Merryweather (2), Charlotte Barber and Lucy Allen were on the scoresheet in the Premier 2 clash. Wallingford 3rd were beaten 1-0 at home by Bicester in Division 2. The home side were under pressure throughout, but defensive grit from Jenni Harrington, Mairi Hills, Kat McEwen, Carla Thompson and Emily Bannin ensured they did not add to their tally. Wallingford won several short corners, but were unable to find an equaliser despite efforts from Amy Lissenden, Ginny Light and Ness Bennett. Emma Seymour and Courteney Eatwell scored as the 4th team earned a 2-1 victory over Bicester 3rd in Division 5. In Division 7, our 5th XI continue to go from strength to strength despite a 4-2 defeat at Wychwood 2nd. Hannah Hooper and Alex Illingworth scored their first goals for the club.

Wallingford’s Men’s 1st team picked up their first victory when beating Wycombe 2nd 3-1. Connor Blakey (2) and Sam Windsor-Lewis were on target in the MBBO Regional Division 2 match. The 3rd team played out a 0-0 draw with Windsor 2nd in Division 5, while the 4th XI were beaten 7-1 by Reading Rascals in Division 7. There was better news for Wallingford 5th, who beat Bicester Dev 7-0 in Division 9. Pete Satchwell netted a hat-trick, while John Rees, Nick Thompson and Geraint Jones were also among the goals.
