Ladies 5th Team vs Slough 5

Well well well. Wallingford certainly had their weetabix this morning for a 10:15 PB at home against an inexperienced Slough. 10-1 was the final score to the fab 5’s.

Our tactics were to use the press and the old switcheroo and it definitely worked. Despite no defence subs, Elaine remained cool calm and collected as our centre back and some beautiful strong passing from Luci and Erinn on their respective sides and Annabel pushing high up the pitch meant Toni was a little lonely as our goal keeper in the first half. The first goal came from Lily after an assist by Milly and then the second by Becca (her first for the club) a mere 2 minutes later meant our confidence was soaring. Ellie then slipped another on a reverse stick past their keeper and Ange powered another through at minute 25. Alas that wasn’t enough and Ange had another. Phew, 5 before half time meant that their goal keeper had had enough and the second half started with 11 outfield and even more opportunity to score for us. Mia brought home another goal, followed by Jules (2 if you count her goal to score a goal in the year of her 50th!) Ange got another and then Mia scored another after some lovely support from Emily on the wing. We did get a little tired and Slough managed to claw one back, but, just when you thought Ange might be bored of scoring- NOPE, another!! 

Spectacular play today from everyone today and we even had co-captain Sami join us for the last quarter on the sidelines.
